2024-25 Listening Tour Area Report: Hastings

From February to May 2025, Healthwatch talked to people in Hastings about primary care, social isolation, social determinants of health, and what supports their wellbeing.

This report outlines the key findings from this activity:

Transportation was a barrier for those relying on public transport, particularly for appointments outside of Hastings and/or first thing in the morning.

People valued the support provided by voluntary and community organisations in supporting their health and wellbeing, however shared that information about what support is available can be challenging to find, particularly for those who don’t know what kind of support to look for.

Having a range of different methods to contact your GP practice was useful, with people sharing that how they contacted their GP practice depended on the urgency of their need.

The cost of living is continuing to impact people’s health and wellbeing, with people sharing that they struggle to afford food and bills.

Healthwatch will publish a wider report once we have completed our Listening Tour of East Sussex later in 2025
