Is your GP practice merging or changing? Our guide is here to help.

People tell us that changes to local GP practices – such as mergers, closures and boundary changes – are often a source of anxiety or concern.

We are keen to support local GP practices to communicate effectively and collaboratively about any proposed changes, so patients, the public and other local services are clear on how they may be affected.

We always encourage GP practices to share their plans widely and in advance of changes taking place, so people or organisations can share any worries, and these can be fed into decision-making.

Healthwatch in the south east have collaborated to produce a short guide to help commissioners and GP practices ensure appropriate engagement and communication occurs before, during and after such decisions are made. It outlines how Healthwatch East Sussex would expect them to engage and support patients during this time.

You are welcome to share this resource with staff at your practice or your Patient Participation Group (PPG).

If you have any feedback or questions about your GP practice our Information & Signposting team are here to help Monday – Friday, 10am – 2pm on 0333 101 4007 or via enquiries@healthwatcheastsussex.co.uk.
